Jeremiah Wright on Derrick Bell, Jesus, and the Jews: A Sermon Obama Could Not Have Missed
In one sermon, which Wright published in 1995 in a collection entitled Africans Who Shaped Our Faith: A Study of 10 Biblical Personalities, Wright referred specifically to Bell’s protest against Harvard–the same protest that Obama supported in a video released by Breitbart.com last week. The sermon repeats the main doctrine of Bell’s Critical Race Theory–that the United States was founded on racism, and that America remains irredeemably racist. Wright also attacked “Jewish lawyers,” comparing the Jews of Jesus’s time to “Klansmen” and describing Jesus as a racial provocateur: Jesus is a perfect model for the best type of faith. Jesus…

Why isn’t Congress stopping the Obama Regime from using American tax dollars to pimp for Islam in Europe?
Posted: March 10, 2012 | Author: barenakedislam | Filed under: ISLAMOBAMA | 32 Comments »
Even more outrageous, the U.S. ambassador to Spain recently met with a group of Muslim immigrants in one of the most Islamized neighborhoods of Barcelona to apologize for American foreign policymaking in the Middle East.
American diplomats are repeatedly apologizing to Muslims in Europe for a multitude of real or imagined slights against Islam, and the U.S. State Department is now spending millions of dollars each year actively promoting Islam — including Islamic Sharia law — on the continent.
Stonegate Institute (H/T Maria) U.S. Ambassador Alan Solomont told Muslims assembled at the town hall-like meeting in the heart of Barcelona’s old city that the United States is not an “enemy of Islam” and that U.S. President Barack Obama wants to improve America’s image in the Middle East as quickly as possible by closing the “dark chapters” of the U.S. invasion of Iraq and the war in Afghanistan.
“There are things that the United States has done badly,” Solomont said at the February 28 gathering organized by a non-profit organization called the Cultural, Educational and Social Association of Pakistani Women. “But now the Obama government wants to improve relations with Muslims,” he promised.
During the one-and-a-half-hour question-and-answer session, Solomont asked those in attendance simple rhetorical questions, including: “Did you know that the United States sends a lot of money to Pakistan?” and “Did you know that the decision to destroy Osama bin Laden’s house was made by the United States?”
After responding to queries about the “Talibanization of Pakistan due the war in Afghanistan” and the “demonization of Islam in the West,” Solomont said Obama wants to end the long-time American practice of establishing alliances with dictators in the Middle East, a strategy which he said has failed to prevent the rise of “the bearded ones” [radical Islamists], this according to the Barcelona-based newspaper La Vanguardia, which also interviewed Solomont on the sidelines of the event.
The Barcelona meeting, which was held in a Muslim ghetto called Raval (a.k.a. Ravalistan because Muslim immigrants now make up 45% of the barrio’s total population), is an example of the Obama administration’s so-called Muslim Outreach. The U.S. State Department — working through American embassies and consulates in Europe — has been stepping-up its efforts to establish direct contacts with largely unassimilated Muslim immigrant communities in towns and cities across Europe.
Proponents of Obama’s approach to public diplomacy say it is part of a “counter-radicalization” strategy which aims to prevent radical Muslims with European passports from carrying out terrorist attacks against the United States. A key component of the strategy is to “empower” Muslims who can help build a “counter-narrative” to that of terrorists. In practice, however, Obama ideologues are crisscrossing Europe on U.S. taxpayer funded trips to “export” failed American approaches to multiculturalism, affirmative action, cultural diversity and special rights for minorities.
In Ireland, for example, the U.S. Embassy in Dublin recently sponsored a seminar ostensibly designed to help Muslim immigrants increase their influence within the Irish business and financial communities.
The opening speech at the event was delivered by Imam Hussein Halawa of the Islamic Cultural Center of Ireland, despite the fact that leaked U.S. State Department cables show that the U.S. government has known for many years that Halawi is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and serves as the right-hand man of the radical Egyptian cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi.
Halawa, an Egyptian immigrant who has dedicated his life to the cause of introducing Islamic Sharia law in Europe, told those in attendance that the main purpose of the conference was to bring the Irish banking system into conformity with Islamic legal principles. U.S. Ambassador Dan Rooney, a lifelong Republican turned Obama acolyte, said at the same conference that the United States was a “solid partner” behind Halawa’s venture.
In Austria, the U.S. Embassy in Vienna sponsored a film contest in February on the theme of “Diversity and Tolerance” aimed at teaching wayward Austrians that they should show respect for Muslim immigrants who refuse to integrate into their society. Ambassador William Eacho, an Obama campaign fundraiser turned political appointee, awarded the first prize to a group of students in the northern Austrian town of Steyr who produced a one-minute silent film promoting tolerance for Muslim women who wear Islamic face-covering veils such as burkas in public spaces. Obama and his team may think they know what is best for Europeans, but according to recent polls, more than 70% of Austrians are in favor of a law that would ban the burka.
In Belgium, U.S. Ambassador & ‘Judenrat’ Howard Gutman, another Obama fundraiser turned diplomat, told lawyers attending a conference in Brussels in November 2011 that Israel is to blame for Muslim anti-Semitism in Europe. According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronot, Gutman, who is Jewish, showed conference attendees a video of himself receiving a warm welcome at a Muslim school in Brussels, which he said proved that Muslims are not anti-Semitic. Following a barrage of criticism for rationalizing the growing problem of anti-Semitism in Europe, the U.S. Embassy in Belgium removed the evidence by uploading an amended transcript of Gutman’s remarks on its website.
In France, the U.S. Embassy in Paris co-sponsored a seminar to teach Muslims in France how they can politically organize themselves. Operatives from the Democratic Party coached 70 Muslim “diversity leaders” from disaffected Muslim-majority suburban slums known as banlieues on how to develop a communications strategy, raise funds and build a political base. The French government — which has been trying to reverse the pernicious effects of decades of state-sponsored multiculturalism — expressed dismay at what it called “meddling.”
The Obama administration’s Muslim-oriented coaching sessions on community organizing come as the Persian Gulf Emirate of Qatar is busy peddling the fundamentalist teachings of Wahhabi Islam – which not only discourages Muslim integration into the West, but actively encourages jihad [holy war] against non-Muslims — to hundreds of thousands of disgruntled Muslim immigrants in France.
As the Obamans and the Wahhabis compete for influence among Muslim immigrants, forward-looking analysts fret that France may yet end up with politically organized jihadists turning the banlieues into Islamic emirates.
In Norway, where Muslim immigrants already have more rights than native Norwegians, the U.S. Embassy in Oslo organized a “dialogue meeting” designed to “empower” Muslim immigrant women in the country. According to the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten, Obama’s special envoy to the Muslim world, Farah Pandith, castigated the Norwegian government’s integration policies as being insufficiently fair to Muslim immigrants. She also told Norwegians that Muslims are “more free to practice Islam in the United States than in any other country in the world.” Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg said Norway has much to learn from the Americans.
According to a leaked U.S. diplomatic cable, for example, Ambassador & ‘Judnerat’ Louis Susman “engages with U.K. Muslim communities regularly…he has spoken to Muslim groups in Wales and Scotland, visited the London Central Mosque, and hosted an interfaith breakfast at his residence, among other activities.”
Susman has come under fire for visiting another London mosque, namely the East London Mosque, which is one of the most extreme Islamic institutions in Britain. Built with money from Saudi Arabia to propagate Wahhabi Islam, the sprawling facility is home to the London Muslim Center, which the U.S. government has long known is a haven for Islamic extremists. During his visit, Susman spoke of his “great admiration” for the mosque and his enthusiasm for meeting its staff.
According to the leaked cable, “Having the U.S. Ambassador visit and listen respectfully to Muslim points of view has an enormous impact on groups that often feel marginalized and ignored.”

Fake Asian Accent and ‘Gibberish’: Farrakhan Gets Standing Ovation for Odd UC Berkeley Speech
TYPICAL : EXAMPLE OF BLACK STUDENTS AT BERKELEY TALKING AND ACTING OUT RACIST RHETORIC FOR WHICH WHITE PEOPLE WOULD BE ARRESTED.
RACIST DOGMA IS A COMMON AMERICAN BLACK NARRATIVE FOR WHICH THOSE SPECIFICALLY AND THE BLACK RACE IS GENERAL ARE NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THE DOUBLE STANDARD THAT IS APPLIED TO WHITES AND BLACKS MUST BE FOUGHT AGAINST.
IT HAS BEEN 50 YEARS THAT WHITE PEOPLE IN AMERICA HAVE LIVED WITH THE DOUBLE STANDARD . THESE GROUPS OF IGNORANT BLACKS IN AMERICA ARE WHAT ARE HELPING DESTROY AMERICA.
NEW ZEAL
Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam, is known for his fiery language and rhetoric. Over the weekend, he brought these elements to the University of California, Berkeley, where he was invited to speak at the ninth annual Afrikan Black Coalition Conference.
Farrakhan’s presence at the event, which was organized by Berkeley’s Black Student Union, was protested by some student groups. Nonetheless, that didn‘t stop him from appearing and tackling some of the day’s most controversial issues. From Mitt Romney and Barack Obama to race relations and U.S. foreign policy, — Farrakhan covered it all. In fact, he even covered the Chinese while using an Asian accent.
The 78-year-old faith leader reportedly nearly filled the 700-seat auditorium and seemed to enjoy the controversy that surrounded his appearance at the university. And, despite the vocal opposition to his presence, Farrakhan received a standing ovation at the end of his address.
“Somebody on this campus would say you shouldn’t say what I have to say when the world listens to what Farrakhan has to say,” he said, addressing the controversy surrounding his presence. ”They are so fearful that you’re going to hear a word that will break a chain off of your mind.”

While the main theme of the speech focused upon self-reliance for African Americans, as is typically the case, the unpredictable Farrakhan offered some uncomfortable moments for the audience. The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
Farrakhan at one point briefly adopted a faux Asian accent and used gibberish after asking the audience if they had ever seen the Chinese picketing, drawing a gasp from some in the crowd.
One female student quietly muttered “Oh no,“ when Farrakhan said he had ”a word to the Jewish students” before warning against a U.S. or Israeli attack on Iran.
Watch him use the accent, below:
But this wasn’t the full extent of his startling remarks. Shannon Najmabadi, a student at Berkeley, also covered the leader’s speech in school newspaper, The Daily Californian.
“You like to sugarcoat things so you can get along with your former slave masters,” Najmabadi quoted Farrakhan, as he was apparently addressing the history of African Americans in the U.S. and attitudes regarding their place in contemporary society.
He went on to liken the U.S. to a “troublemaker, meddling in the internal affairs of other nations” and he slammed the education system in America. Accusing the system of bias, he lamented the failure of educators to properly teach students about the accomplishments and positive moments associated with black history.
“This is what you call an education in white supremacy,” Farrakhan said. “So when you come out, you come out bowing to them.”
Before slipping in digs at Romney, Farrakhan offered up his sympathies to Obama.
“This is an election year and our poor brother Barack — I feel very sorry for him. Because he’s given America the best that he could,” he proclaimed. “He’s not an economist. He’s a constitutional lawyer who became the president of the United States.”
Watch Farrakhan’s entire address, below:
Last month, while speaking at the Nation of Islam‘s Savior’s Day in Chicago, Farrakhan advanced the theory that the Jewish people are in control of all forms of mass media.
“I’m not anti-Semitic, I’m just telling the truth,” he said. “In 100 years, [the Jews] control movies, television, recording, publishing, commerce, radio, they own it all.”
Proceso Exposé : “Los Zetas” infiltrate the Army, PGR, AFI, PF and Governorships
The arrest of four members of the criminal organization “Los Zetas” has revealed that operations are not only performed, but overlapped by the Mexican Army, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (AFI) and the Federal Police (PF), as well as state and municipal police forces, both in Coahuila and Nuevo Leon.
Five years into Calderon’s war on drugs, which accumulated more than 50 thousand dead and a similar number of missing, the federal security forces did not escape the corruption that the president repeatedly attributed to police and local institutions.
According to the preliminary investigation PGR/SIEDO/UEIDCS/041/2012, made just last February 8, soldiers of the Sixth Military Zone killed citizens who were denouncing criminals and their bodies disappeared, in addition they would hide from PGR, shipments of drugs.
The investigation adds that so did the PF agents, who also identified, confronted adversaries of “Los Zetas”, they placed checkpoints where they guarded shipments. Also, they implemented the payroll of the Federal Support Forces (FFA) that sends the government temporarily to fight the narco.
In Coahuila, Lieutenant Colonel Manuel de Jesús Cicero Salazar, who served as head of the Operational State Police and protected “Los Zetas” was recommended by the Secretary of Defense, Guillermo Galván Galván.

And his involvement in executions of 39 Infantry Battalion, of Nuevo Casas Grandes, and now in the case of 69 Infantry Battalion, based in Saltillo.
The incriminating statements of the soldiers and officers arrested in March 2011 revealed how the corrupting power of “Los Zetas” escalated throughout the structure of the Sixth Military Zone, based in Saltillo, until the general Juan Manuel Vallejo Malibran, who served as chief of staff in the area and then was sent to Guanajuato.

Despite this history and the confessions and accusations made by the detainees, who are almost a year in the power of the PGR, this office has not made any investigation against the former prosecutor Charles Torres. Blitzing the Department of Education
Tim Tebow and I both blitzed the Department of Education; we were both homeschooled. Tebow became the first homeschooler to win the Heisman Trophy and he’s now an NFL starting quarterback. And, as someone who was homeschooled through eighth grade and attended a private high school before graduating from college, I personally know that young people don’t need the federal government running their education. I think American children and their parents deserve more than an unconstitutional, one-size-fits-all federal education system. Remains of 167 people found in Mexican cave
AP
Mexican authorities have found the remains of 167 people in a southern Mexican cave, and forensic experts believe the remains are at least 50 years old, according to a statement from Chiapas state prosecutors.
The statement released Saturday said the remains were found Friday on the Nuevo Ojo de Agua ranch in an area frequently used by Central American migrants traveling north. The statement said there were no visible signs of violence on the remains, which “break easily.”
The statement said authorities will “not discard any line of investigation.”
The remains were discovered stacked atop each other in the cave, said a prosecutor’s office employee who was not authorized to release information and asked not to be identified. The remains have been moved to the state capital of Tuxtla Gutierrez for examination, the employee said.
Mass graves have been found in the past two years mainly in northern Mexico containing the bodies of dozens of migrants and others allegedly killed by drug cartels.

At Least 10 Killed as Muslim Homicide Bomber Attacks Catholic Church During Mass
Muslims blowing up churches. The horror turns your stomach. But criticizing Islam is the real crime. The world is on notice that criticizing Islam is the most serious crime against anti-humanity.
Where is the moral outrage?
JOS, Nigeria (AP) — A suicide car bomber attacked a Catholic church Sunday in the middle of Mass, killing at least 10 people in the latest violence targeting a church in a central Nigerian city plagued by unrest, a state official said. The bomb detonated as worshippers attended the final Mass of the day at St. Finbar’s Catholic Church in Jos, a city where thousands have died in the last decade in religious and ethnic violence. Security at the gate of the church’s compound stopped the suspicious car and the bomber detonated his explosives during an altercation that followed, Plateau state spokesman Pam Ayuba said. The blast damaged the church’s roof, blew out its windows and destroyed a portion of the fence surrounding the church’s compound, Ayuba said. At least 10 people died, Ayuba said, while many others were wounded in the blast, including soldiers who also had been stationed at the church.
“He destroyed so many things,” the spokesman said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility though the city has been targeted in the past by a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram. The sect claimed a series of bombings in Jos on Christmas Eve in 2010 that killed as many as 80 people. The sect also claimed a similar church bombing on Feb. 26 on the main headquarters of the Church of Christ that killed three people and wounded 38 others.
The sect, which speaks to journalists through telephone conference calls at times of its choosing, could not be immediately reached for comment Sunday.
Muslim Brotherhood Group MPAC Says it was Consulted on LA Police Chief
We are under siege from within. Saboteurs. I blame the enemedia for covering up these treasonous acts.
The Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report » MPAC Says It Was Consulted On Choice Of L.A. Police Chief. (via Creeping)
The Muslim Public Affair Council (MPAC) has announced that the Mayor of Los Angeles has involved MPAC, along with other organizations, in the process of choosing the city’s next Chief Of Police. According to the announcement:
While making his decision on the next Chief of Police for the City of Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa last Friday reached out to local Muslim community leaders for their input on his big decision. Prior to the Mayor’s address, Deputy-Chief Michael Downing, spoke to a congregation of 1,000 worshipers after Friday prayers at the Islamic Center of Southern California, asking them for their prayers as the Mayor deliberates on his decision. During the meeting with Muslim leaders, the mayor asked for input on the qualities the community feels are especially significant for the new chief to posses. “As a member of the group of advisors who choose the last Los Angeles Police Chief, William Bratton, I strongly encourage the use of strong criteria — to not only have someone capable of upholding public safety but also to protect the civil liberties of all Angelenos,” said Dr. Maher Hathout, MPAC Senior Advisor. Executive Director Salam Al-Marayati re-enforced that “crisis management skills are of utmost importance. An example of this is the horrendous incident that took place at a synagogue in North Hollywood recently, where had the situation not been handled well, by Chief Downing, issues could have flared out of control. The acting Deputy-Chief reached out to leadership across the city to ensure proper communication. That is the type of leadership we need to have an effective leader to protect and serve Los Angeles.” Over the weekend, the mayor met with over 100 individuals to discuss his decision. The final candidates include Deputy Chief Michel Moore, First Assistant Chief Jim McDonnell and Deputy Chief Charlie Beck. He as also invited MPAC leadership to meet the his pick for the new chief on Tuesday, November 3rd. The Los Angeles City Council is expected to confirm his choice by November 10. L.A.
MPAC was established initially in 1986 as the Political Action Committee of the Islamic Center of Southern California whose key leaders likely had their origins in the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Since that time, MPAC has functioned as the political lobbying arm of the U.S. Brotherhood. MPAC has opposed virtually every count-terror initiative undertaken or proposed by the U.S. government. At times this opposition was said to be on civil-rights grounds but, just as often, MPAC claimed that U.S. counter-terror efforts were aimed at the U.S. Muslim community itself. MPAC has consistently supported and facilitated terrorism by supporting terrorist organizations and, more broadly, constructing an elaborate ideology defending the use of violence by Islamists and Islamist organizations. More than any other U.S. Muslim Brotherhood organization, MPAC has developed extensive relationships with the U.S. government which have included numerous meetings with the Department of Justice and the FBI.

Founded in 1988, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) describes itself as “a public service agency working for the civil rights of American Muslims, for the integration of Islam into American pluralism, and for a positive, constructive relationship between American Muslims and their representatives.” The organization consists of eight chapters in California, and one each in Texas, Kansas, Nevada, and Iowa.
MPAC’s vision is “to establish a vibrant Muslim American community that will enrich American society through promoting the Islamic values of Mercy, Justice, Peace, Human Dignity, Freedom, and Equality for all.” In an effort to achieve this objective, the Council’s mission consists of: “effect[ing] positive change in public opinion and in policy with the purpose of realizing our vision”; “promoting an American Muslim identity”; “fostering an effective grassroots organization”; “training a future generation of men and women who share our vision”; “promoting an accurate portrayal of Islam and Muslims in mass media and popular culture”; “educating the American public, both Muslim and non-Muslim, about Islam”; “building alliances with Muslim and non-Muslims groups”; and “cultivating relationships with opinion- and decision-makers.”
From its inception, MPAC presented itself as more inclusive, and more open to peaceful coexistence with Jews and Christians, than other Arab and Muslim groups, and sought to make Americans comfortable with Islam by showing how much the religion embraced core American values. Throughout the 1990s, MPAC nurtured this image of moderation by organizing Muslim-Jewish dialogues in Los Angeles. Its members received invitations to the Clinton White House and appointments on federal commissions; they were similarly courted by the Bush campaign as the Clinton presidency drew to a close. MPAC’s Senior Advisor, Maher Hathout, who has close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and espouses the radical brand of Islam known as Wahhabism, was invited to address the Democratic Convention in Los Angeles in 2000. Shortly thereafter, however, MPAC endorsed George W. Bush for U.S. President.
MPAC’s centrist public image unraveled after the September 2000 launching of the Second Palestinian Intifada, when the Council severed its ties to the Jewish community and issued one-sided condemnations of Israel’s response to the Arab violence.
MPAC’s support for President Bush similarly disintegrated after 9/11, when the Council actively opposed Bush’s military incursions into Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as his “excesses” in the war on terror. In February 2003, MPAC joined the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the American Muslim Council, and the American Muslim Alliance in forming a coalition to repeal and amend the Patriot Act, which these organizations depicted as an assault on the civil liberties of Americans, particularly Muslims. Seven months earlier (on July 14, 2002), MPAC National Director Ahmed Younis had stated that “if Thomas Jefferson or Madison or the like were alive today, they would go to John Ashcroft’s house and just shoot him.” (Ashcroft was the Attorney General who sought to enforce the Patriot Act.)
MPAC claims that Islam is a religion of peace and moderation, and contends that Muslim extremists are no more numerous or dangerous than fundamentalists in any other faith. “There are radical Christian, Jewish and Hindu movements, too,” says MPAC, “which are also capable of slaughtering innocents.” On occasion, MPAC has publicly condemned Islamic suicide bombings. These condemnations, however, are invariably accompanied by endorsements of Muslim “resistance” and “armed struggle” which MPAC frames as justified retribution against prior Israeli or Western transgressions.
Holding Israel entirely responsible for the “pattern of violence” in the Middle East, MPAC asserts that Hezbollah “could be called a liberation movement.” The Council likens Hezbollah members to American “freedom fighters hundreds of years ago whom the British regarded as terrorists.” In a November 1997 speech at the University of Pennsylvania, MPAC Co-Founder and Executive Director Salam Al-Marayati steadfastly refused to call Hezbollah a terrorist organization; he justified the existence of Hamas as a political entity and a provider of social programs and “educational operations”; and he equated jihad with the sentiments of the American statesman Patrick Henry, whose “Give me liberty or give me death” declaration was, in Al-Marayati’s view, “a way of looking at the term jihad from an American perspective.” In a 1999 position paper, MPAC justified Hezbollah’s deadly 1983 bombing of the American Marine barracks in Lebanon as a “military operation” rather than a terrorist attack. As Maher Hathout puts it: “Hezbollah is fighting for freedom, an organized army, limiting its operations against military people, this is a legitimate target against occupation. … this is legitimate, this is an American value — freedom and liberty.”
MPAC’s worldview is further revealed by its many additional public statements on a wide array of issues and events:
- According to MPAC: “Israel was established by terrorism”; its founding “involved the unjust and illegal usurpation of Muslim and Christian land and rights”; and “to recognize the legitimacy of that crime is a crime in itself.”
- MPAC characterizes Israel as a “racist, chauvinistic and militaristic” state that is prosecuting “a war to steal land from Palestinians, to decimate their leadership, to humiliate the Palestinian people.”
- Condemning Israel’s “apartheid-like ideology,” MPAC warns: “History shows that Muslim and Christian religious rights are not safe under Israeli occupation.”
- Israelis are “the worst terrorists in the world,” says MPAC, “… Yet Israel is not found on the list of state sponsors of terrorism in the [U.S.] State Department Report on Terrorism.”
- MPAC co-sponsored pro-Palestinian rallies in the fall of 2000, where MPAC speakers chanted “Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jews, the Army of Muhammed is coming for you!” The rally featured literature and many placards calling for the annihilation of the Jews and Israel.
- A few hours after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, MPAC Co-Founder Salam Al-Marayati told a Los Angeles talk radio audience: “If we’re going to look at suspects, we should look at the groups that benefit the most from these kinds of incidents, and I think we should put the state of Israel on the suspect list because I think this diverts attention from what’s happening in the Palestinian territories so that they can go on with their aggression and occupation and apartheid policies.”
- On November 30, 2002, MPAC Vice Chairman Aslam Abdullah said: “Those who are part of the political Zionist movement in America … know it very well that without the support of the United States … their country, namely Israel, would not be able to pursue its apartheid and racist policies in the Middle East. They will use every means possible to ensure that American administration stays on their side. They will create false enemies, they will distort facts, they will manipulate events; and they will concoct and fabricate lies. They have taken America hostage.”
- MPAC was a signatory to a MAY 20, 2004 Joint Muslims/Arab-American Statement on Israeli Violence in Gaza, which “strongly condemn[ed]” Israel’s “indiscriminate killings of innocent Palestinians, including many children,” and its “demolition of Palestinian homes” — but made no mention of Arab terrorism.
- On March 23, 2005, MPAC National Director Ahmed Younis spoke at a Muslim Students’ Association-sponsored event, where he explained that because Adolf Eichmann was himself a Jew, it could accurately be said that Jews had killed themselves in the Holocaust.
- MPAC endorsed a November 1, 2001 document characterizing the 9/11 attacks as a legal matter to be addressed by criminal-justice procedures rather than military means. Ascribing the hijackers’ motives to alleged social injustices against which they were protesting, this document called on the United States “to promote fundamental rights around the world.”
- MPAC speakers regularly complain that the U.S. is “dominated” by Zionists and favors Jews over Muslims.
- Opposed to efforts to shut down Islamic charities that fund terrorism – alleging that such efforts interfere with freedom of religion and the exercise of the Muslim obligation to give to charity — MPAC states that the U.S. government should instead investigate what it terms Jewish “terrorists” like the Jewish Defense League. The Council signed and sponsored a petition to reinstate the assets of Hamas’ charitable front, the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, after it was designated as a front for terrorist financing.
- According to MPAC, “A major threat to the safety of the Muslim community is the Islam-bashing that has been very evident since 9/11. There has been a steady stream of attacks on the Quran … These attacks are vicious, mean-spirited, and politically motivated. … [T]he most sustained and vitriolic [attacks] are from right-wing Christian groups led by Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.”
- The MPAC 2002 Annual Banquet featured Ali Al-Mazrui, a SUNY-Binghamton professor who said: “There is also suspicion that some members of the Bush administration in collusion with Israel are more than ready to plunge the Middle East into turmoil in the hope that the final outcome would be to the territorial advantage of Israel and the strategic advantage of the United States. All this is part of the emerging external sadism of the United States, a readiness to hurt others abroad.”
- In a May 7, 2004 statement, MPAC said: “The scandal of Abu Ghraib was not an isolated incident but a manifestation of hate rooted in a distortion of American culture. The soldiers charged for torturing and sexually humiliating Iraqi prisoners were reflecting, among other things, an irrational hatred against Arabs and Muslims. Hatred in Abu Ghraib is inextricably linked with hatred increasingly fostered by some elements of our government, our media, and other major national institutions.”
- After a series of arrests made in connection with an August 2006 airline terror scare in London, President Bush called the uncovered plot “a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation.” MPAC spokeswoman Edina Lekovic reacted, “When the people we need most in the fight against terrorism, American Muslims, feel alienated by the President’s characterization of these supposed terrorists, that does more damage than good.”
In September 2005, MPAC joined with the anti-war organization Code Pink for Peace to sponsor a Culver City, California event promoting a new book by UC-Irvine professor Mark LeVine, who contends that an “Axis of Empathy” is the only strategy that can bring about a long-term solution to the war between radical Islam and the West. MPAC has also worked closely with International ANSWER, which has intimate ties to Ramsey Clark’s International Action Center and the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party.
In November 2010, MPAC reported that it had recently given — to some 2,200 Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) responsible for screening passengers and luggage at U.S. airports — a two-month training program in cultural awareness about Islam and Muslims. MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati, MPAC Civic Outreach Coordinator Saadia Khan, and two MPAC volunteers conducted the trainings at Los Angeles International Airport. According to MPAC, the four trainers taught the TSOs “how to properly handle a Quran”; they “discussed the different ways Muslim women and men choose to cover or dress”; and they “allowed trainers to discuss the common practice of Muslims praying in various areas of the airport, adding that they do this because LAX does not have a designated prayer area as other airports do.”
MPAC has long worked to promote positive portrayals of Islam and Muslims in movies and television programs. Shortly after 9/11, the organization established its own Hollywood Bureau for this purpose. Since then, MPAC has consulted with the producers of such TV shows as “24,” ”Bones,” ”Lie to Me,” ”7th Heaven,” ”Saving Grace” and “Aliens in America.” The organization also has held meetings with top network executives from ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, and organizes a Muslim-inspired version of a Hollywood awards show each year for productions that advance the public’s understanding of Islam. In 2009, for instance, this event recognized “The Simpsons,” for an episode that featured young Bart befriending a Muslim boy named Bashir. In early 2011, MPAC announced that it would soon be hosting a series of workshops — taught by Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated veterans of the entertainment industry — to further promote more positive images of Muslims in film and television.
In November 2011, MPAC held a Washington, DC event in honor of Rachid Ghannouchi, the leader of the Ennahda, the Muslim Brotherhood affiliate that had recently emerged victorious in the political elections in Tunisia. Ghannouchi is a longtime Islamist who, during the 1990s, was invited to the United States by Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Sami Al-Arian but was banned from the country. Yet by MPAC’s reckoning, Ghannouchi is “one of the most important figures in modern Islamic political thought and theory.”
Just a few months prior to the November 2011 event, in an interview with an Arab-language website, Ghannouchi had stated that the Arab Spring “will achieve positive results on the path to the Palestinian cause and threaten the extinction of Israel.” Added Ghannouchi: “I give you the good news that the Arab region will get rid of the bacillus of Israel. Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the leader of Hamas, said that Israel will disappear by the year 2027. I say that this date may be too far away, and Israel may disappear before this.”
