by Susan Dale

We used to have real men in this country; in fact, we seem to have specialized in them. George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, the Marquis de Lafayette (officially designated as an Honorary American, and buried in American soil, by his choice, in Paris) and so many other extraordinary men at the time of our Founding, were alpha males all. They, to a man, exhibited remarkable courage and strength, both in character and in action, in a time of life or death for them, and for the country they were working so diligently, and at such great peril, to found.

Where are men like George Washington and the others today? Do they in fact still exist?

Yes, they do, though not in preponderance, and this is for a number of reasons.

The number of wars we have had in our nation’s history has not been easy on succeeding generations of alpha males. It is, in fact, this genre that has been the most affected in our history of conflict, as it has been alpha males who have been at the forefront of every battle of every war that has occurred since our first war. This, the American Revolutionary War, was responsible for the creation of our nation, and perhaps defined what it was to be an American alpha male.

Among the many alpha males who abounded in late 18th Century America, a quite unlikely individual provides a rather extraordinary demonstration of the genre – a short, portly, largely self-educated book seller from Boston, Henry Knox, whom Washington had come to know, and whom he later appointed to lead the Continental Army’s artillery division. The General assigned then-Colonel Knox to a rather onerous command – get the cannon and other artillery pieces left at Fort Ticonderoga by the British, and bring them back, poste haste, to where the Continental Army was quartered in New York. It was presented to the Colonel, rightly, as a life or death mission for the Continental Army. The season was a difficult one, as it was mid-December, a predictably dangerous time to travel, especially in a northern direction; nonetheless, Knox and his men immediately marched off and spent the next month doing the impossible in brutal terrain and temperature and arrived back to where General Washington had ordered a month later with 60 tons of artillery. Neither Knox nor any of the men in his command had any particular experience nor expertise with artillery, nor with its transport, especially in punishing conditions; nonetheless, they proceeded to position and apply the guns they had gone to such lengths to acquire to rout the enemy.

General Washington, the ultimate alpha male, chose well in his unlikely, though fellow, alpha male, Henry Knox, who proved to be one of Washington’s best Generals, and later became the Secretary of War in his first Cabinet.

From the wars succeeding the Revolutionary War, to the Civil War, perhaps the cruelest war in our history, it was the alpha male who led the troops, in courage, in valor and in battlefield behavior. It was the alpha males in America who, when necessary, voluntarily gave their lives, the ultimate sacrifice that few other than they understood. At the time of the War Between the States, especially, the code of the alpha male was exhibited in the ranks of the Confederacy as well as in the Union; as both sides of the bitter conflict were replete with alpha males. One of the more obvious example of an alpha male was General William Tecumseh Sherman, the implementer of the vicious scorched earth policy in his march through the South. Though a brutal military policy, Sherman executed it brilliantly, and it was one of the main reasons for the Confederate surrender. No one ever said that alpha males were nice.

Perhaps the most devastating war affecting the alpha male population, not just in the United States, but in the West in general, was the tragic First World War. Some 37 million individuals were casualties in this seemingly inexplicable conflict, denuding the most civilized nations in the West, more so in Europe than in the U.S. due to our later entry into the War, of their young men, many of whom were alpha males. ‘The War to End All Wars,’ as the first world war was ironically known, quickly segued into the Second World War, where it seemed, almost without a break, a succeeding generation of young men returned to their nations’ bloody battlefields. In this war, we shared the brutal numbers of the dead with Europe, as we were early in joining our allies to, literally, save the world from fascism, and on two different fronts.

The ranks of alpha males were devastated in the two world wars of the 20th Century. How, then, could any of these extraordinary men have survived to create succeeding generations of alpha males? It is indeed a wonder that any alpha males have survived at all.

Nonetheless, some seem to have squeaked through. For that we should be grateful, as alpha males, by their nature, make difficult decisions in accordance with common sense, and not popular thinking. For alpha males, it is a natural reaction to protect the young, the weak and the innocent, a category that used to include women. Alpha males regard their lives as secondary to their honor, and love other people and certain concepts more than they love themselves. Alpha males act in accordance to what they know is right, and what is wrong, and they have been known to give their lives for things they love, like nations and such. Alpha males are, in fact, indispensable in America, as can be observed, always with admiration and often awe, throughout our history.

And where are the alpha males of today to be found? They can, of course, be found in our magnificent military, the members of which are, truly, the best of us. It is perhaps in the military were alpha males predominate that one can find the ultimate demonstration of what an alpha male is to represent: honor, duty, courage and sacrifice.

Are there any alpha males to be found elsewhere in America?

For a nation who desperately needs alpha males not only to continue to survive, but also to remain in place as the last best hope of mankind, the answer, is gratefully, yes. They can be found among our fathers, our uncles, our brothers, our sons and our grandfathers. No matter how prodigious the efforts have been to teach American youth that manliness is not a good thing, the true American spirit has superseded this fallacy in our young men, and the genre has survived. The resilience of alpha males can be observed not only in their performance in battle, and in leadership, through the Centuries, but in their determination to survive in the face of relentless political correctness of the last 60 years. This last has proved to be one of their most difficult battles.

These exceptional specimens of the male animal indeed fight for the things in which they believe, and possess the courage and steadfastness to stand up to any opposition, no matter how strong or how wrong, in fighting for what they know is right.

Alpha males hunt, and think that it is a good thing; they also understand the significance of and the freedom provided by the Second Amendment of our Constitution. Alpha males are competitive and can be fiercely so, and alpha males strive to excel, in fact demand excellence in themselves in everything they do. Alpha males command, and they also follow orders, as they understand a necessary chain of command. Alpha males can be fearless, and, as a genre, display this both intellectually and physically.

They also have a weakness for ‘muscle’ cars, and if these were no longer available, the biggest, most imposing truck or SUV would have to do.

Alpha males in large part don’t indulge in ‘sensitivity training,’ nor do they go to shrinks. These men don’t reveal everything about themselves early or easily, if ever, and they don’t feel that reticence about oneself is a character flaw. They actually don’t think in terms of character flaws. Alpha males don’t get depressed, or if they do they don’t let anyone know, nor do they use behavior modification drugs, most likely never having heard of them, because they figure things out, no matter how daunting, and do whatever it takes.

Alpha males reject bureaucratic orders in general, for example, to refrain from eating ‘transfat;’ as they most likely don’t even know what it is, but they would probably love it if they ate it. Alpha males make decisions by, for and based on themselves and their moral and intellectual foundations, and the only input they allow in this process is the people and the things, (like their country), that they love.

They make no attempt to get in touch with their feminine side, as they probably didn’t know they had one, (if informed that they did, would most likely recoil in horror), and yet have the strength of character to be the gentlest of men with those they love.

Perhaps the greatest thing about alpha males is that we can put our faith in them, and there is so little remaining in America in which we can put our faith. When we know that alpha males are at the forefront, we can stop being terrified at the relentless destruction of our nation; we can stop being angry and frustrated while the left marches ahead with their agenda against the consent of the governed; and we can stem our agony as we watch helplessly while our great civilization disintegrates. We can remember what it was like to, truly, have hope.

We can let them know how much we love our country, and they understand. We can let them know that we want our nation restored to us, and they will do whatever they have to do to achieve that, not only for us, but for themselves. We can let them know that we don’t want those destroying our nation to be in control anymore, and we can be sure that if anyone would be able to do this, it would be America’s alpha males, few though they may be, who have, no matter what their number, never failed to come through for us in our nation’s history.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer struck back Friday, demanding that the reference to Arizona’s immigration law be taken out of the State Department’s report to the U.N.’s human rights commissioner. Brewer wrote a letter to Hillary Clinton saying that the inclusion of Arizona in the U.N. report was “downright offensive.” Brewer said — and she was right — that “the idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a state of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional.”

First, Barack Obama attacked America by suing Arizona for passing a law that merely reflected federal immigration law. And now this.

Decades before the post-American president took office, Ayn Rand saw the U.N. for what it was and what every free person should have known it was — and it has only gotten worse since then: “Psychologically, the U.N. has contributed a great deal to the gray swamp of demoralization — of cynicism, bitterness, hopelessness, fear and nameless guilt — which is swallowing the Western world.” That, of course, is just the kind of guilt Obama and his cronies play upon. This guilt and demoralization was largely due to Communism in those days; now, the “gray swamp” is still there, but it stems from Islam.

Barack Obama is an internationalist, and this has more ominous implications for American sovereignty. As soon as he became president, he took decisive steps to submit American sovereignty to the will of international bodies.

Legal expert M. Edward Whelan III has spelled out the implications of this. He explains that transnationalists, among whom Obama and many of his appointees must clearly be numbered, “aim in particular to use American courts to import international law to override the policies adopted through the processes of representative government.”

Whelan is the president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and the former general counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary. “What transnationalism, at bottom, is all about,” he explains, “is depriving American citizens of their powers of representative government by selectively imposing on them the favored policies of Europe’s leftist elites.”

Whelan wrote this before Obama reported Arizona to the U.N., and the Arizona case bears him out fully. Obama’s latest attack on America may shock Americans, but readers of my book The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America nod their heads in recognition. It’s all in the book: the relinquishing of American sovereignty and Obama’s internationalism. Americans can’t say they weren’t warned. They should have noticed that the charismatic young Democratic presidential candidate had numerous socialist associations, going back to a childhood spent among internationalists. And even as recently as nine months before he was elected president, he sponsored a bill in the Senate that would compromise American sovereignty: the Global Poverty Act.

In a world that generally values the freedom of speech, as well as the freedom of conscience and the legal equality of all people, far less than does the United States of America, the implications of this are clear: erasing the distinctions between American law and international law would mean an erosion of the rights and freedoms of Americans and a concomitant deterioration of American society.

America is under attack from within at the highest levels of power. Barack Hussein Obama’s policies are bringing America to her knees. Domestically, Barack Obama is contemptuous of capitalism and rugged individualism. Internationally, he is enabling Iran’s Islamic bomb, is inveterately hostile to Israel, and generally appears intent on turning America’s historical enemies into friends and friends into enemies.

His dream seems to be to turn America into something like the Indonesia of his youth or the Pakistan he visited as a college student: at best, just another country, unexceptional in any way, and at worst, a third-world nation lagging far behind other global economic and cultural leaders.

With a consistency that can come only from deeply held conviction, Barack Hussein Obama is damaging the office of the presidency and compromising American sovereignty.

The Internationalist-In-Chief, single-minded in his focus upon relinquishing American sovereignty to international law (the U.N.), is essentially at war not just with Arizona, but with America itself.

Sherwood Ross – PVNN
September 05, 2010

President Obama – as well as his mother, father, step-father and grandmother – all were connected to the Central Intelligence Agency – possibly explaining why the President praises the “Agency” and declines to prosecute its officials for their crimes, an investigative reporter says.

According to a published report in the September “Rock Creek Free Press” of Washington, D.C., investigative reporter Wayne Madsen says Obama’s mother Ann Dunham worked “on behalf of a number of CIA front operations, including the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii, the U.S. Agency for International Development(USAID), and the Ford Foundation.” The East-West Center had long been affiliated with CIA activities in the Asia-Pacific region, Madsen says.

What’s more, Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr., arrived in Hawaii from Kenya as part of a CIA program to identify and train Africans who would be useful to the Agency in its Cold War operations against the Soviets, Madsen says. Obama Sr. divorced Ms. Dunham in 1964.

Ms. Dunham married Lolo Soetoro the following year, a man Madsen says assisted in the violent CIA coup against Indonesian President Sukarno that claimed a million lives. Obama’s mother taught English for USAID, “which was a major cover for CIA activities in Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia,” Madsen reports. That USAID was a cover for CIA covert operations in Laos was admitted by its administrator Dr. John Hannah on Metromedia News. Madsen says the organization was also a cover for the CIA in Indonesia.

Ms. Dunham worked in Indonesia at a time when Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities (MUCIA) – a group that included the University of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota and Indiana – was accused of being a front for CIA activities in Indonesia and elsewhere. Ms. Dunham traveled to Ghana, Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Thailand “working on micro-financing projects” for the CIA, Madsen reports.

And Ms. Dunham’s mother, Madelyn Dunham – who raised Obama while his mother was on assignment in Indonesia – acted as vice president of the Bank of Hawaii in Honolulu, which Madsen says was used by various CIA front entities. She handled escrow accounts used to make CIA payments “to U.S.-supported Asian dictators” including Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, South Vietnamese President Nguyen van Thieu, and President Suharto in Indonesia, Madsen says.

“In effect, the bank was engaged in money laundering for the CIA to prop up covertly its favored leaders in the Asia-Pacific region,” Madsen writes. “It is clear that Dunham Soetoro and her Indonesian husband, President Obama’s step-father, were closely involved in the CIA’s operations to steer Indonesia away from the Sino-Soviet orbit after the overthrow of Sukarno.”

“President Obama’s own work in 1983 for Business International Corporation, a CIA front that conducted seminars with the world’s most powerful leaders and used journalists as agents abroad, dovetails with CIA espionage activities conducted by his mother,” Madsen says. “There are volumes of written material on the CIA backgrounds of George H.W. Bush and CIA-related activities by his father and children, including former President George W. Bush. Barack Obama, on the other hand, cleverly masked his own CIA connections as well as those of his mother, father, step-father, and grandmother,” Madsen points out.

A review of the influence on the Oval Office by the CIA, particularly since the presidency of Bush Sr., a former director of the Agency, it becomes apparent the Agency has played a major role in the shaping of U.S. foreign policy – a role that has been largely kept secret from the American public and one which most Americans would not have approved. The CIA’s overthrow of the democratic government of Iran in 1953 is an example. The overthrow occurred after the Iranian government nationalized the oil industry following alleged cheating on payments by contractor British Petroleum, then known as Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. For another, the CIA’s widespread use of illegal rendition and torture of suspects is repugnant to Americans who still believe in their Constitution.

By Jimmy So

(CBS) With many polls indicating the Republicans may win back control of the House of Representatives (and possibly the Senate as well) in the upcoming mid-term elections, Jim VandeHei, the executive editor of Politico, told CBS’ “Face the Nation” that the Obama administration is in a horrible position.

“Does the White House understand this?” asked guest host Harry Smith. “Do you feel any sense of panic or concern” on the part of the administration?

“They get it. There’s panic. There’s concern,” VandeHei said. “The reality for this administration stinks, politically and practically, when it comes to the economy. You’re not going to be able to change that 9.6-percent unemployment figure. You can’t get anything from Congress in the next couple of months.”

CBS Congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes said the Democrats are distancing themselves from President Obama.

“Not only are they running away from President Obama, they’re running away from being Democrats in some cases. In some races you actually see the Democratic candidates not really mentioning that they’re a Democrat in their campaign ads,” Cordes said.

Smith asked his guests to try to identify the source of the discontent: “From your experience on the Hill, have you heard any Democrats in private conversations say, ‘You know what? We went down the wrong road. We went after health care. We went after so many other things on the Obama agenda as opposed to, in the end of the day, it’s all about creating jobs?’”

“Not only have we heard that, but we’ve been hearing it for months,” said Cordes. “We heard it during the health care debate that dragged on for a year when the economy was so bad; they focused on health care and they focused on financial regulation.

“Americans don’t feel the impact of those pieces of legislation yet,” she said. “There’s a lot of frustration on Capitol Hill among Democrats who feel like the President led them down this path. They didn’t all necessarily want to deal with health care. This was on the president’s agenda, and then they felt like he kind of hung them out to dry.”

“Not a single Democrat has run an ad in support of the health care bill since April,” VandeHei noted.

Cordes pointed out that Democrats are very unhappy about Mr. Obama’s speech last week, only the second Oval Office prime time address in his presidency.

“What does he talk about? Not the economy, but Iraq,” Cordes said. “And they say, ‘No, we need to own the economy. If you’re going to use the power of your office to give a speech like that, talk about the economy.”

VandeHei said the Republicans feel more powerful today than they’ve felt at any point in the last five or six years.

“On top of that, you have this enthusiasm gap that is killing Democrats. If you look at the polling data from Gallup and from others, it shows that Republicans are fired up about this election. The liberal Democrats are not. They’re not enthusiastic about it. When you have races that are decided by a couple hundred votes, in a House that can be very, very close, that matters,” VandeHei said.

He also suggested that Democrats are much more pessimistic than they were merely three or four weeks ago. He cited a recent Gallup poll that showed Republicans with a 10-point generic edge. “They’ve been polling for 60 years. We’ve not seen a number like that.”

Cordes pointed out that predictions show the Republicans can win 45 to 50 seats in the House, and they only need 39 seats to take control.

But VandeHei offered a glimmer of hope for President Obama and the Democrats.

“It’s never too late,” he said. “Think about how fickle we are in everything in life now, whether it’s the cell phone that we choose or what we think about politics or what we do in our daily life. People are fickle.

“I still think you can start to pull people back,” VandeHei said. “At the end of the day, it has to be that Obama has to find that magic. How can he get liberals to be as excited about him and about Democratic change as they were two years ago?

Given suggestions that right-wing activists are more fired-up to support their candidates, VandeHei added, “I don’t understand how liberals can sit at home and feel like Obama has not done enough for them. This has been a breathtakingly activist government for the last two years.

“Some day they’re going to sit back and go, ‘Wow, look at all they did!’”
